start. there's the storm system that gave us all the rain and snow briefly last night. that's heading into new england. they are getting a lot of snow in upstate new york and northern new england from that, but we are clearing out here with lots of sunshine. right now a clear sky over the washington monument. and a sunny, blustery morning. by 9:00 it will still be around the mid-30s with windchills in the 20s. and the wind diminish gradually this afternoon with temperatures climbing into the mid-40s by mid-afternoon. a look at your monday night planner coming up at 4:41. jerry, good morning, how is traffic? >>> good morning. we continue to follow breaking news from the overnight accident that occurred a short time ago on 395 northbound in the hov lanes up near washington boulevard. police, fire and rescue crews and investigators remain on the scene. right now traffic is getting by to the right shoulder of the hov lanes. regular lanes completely maintained. we'll keep you updated on this throughout the morning. now to maryland along i-270 where the roads could be a bit slick out of fre

that the u.s. is considering evacuation due to high radiation levels. they were given i. dine pills. >>> we are dealing with showers, most passing to the north of the metro area, continuing to drift off to the east. really, no heavy rain will be causing any travel problems. and it is a chilly start. in the 40s throughout most of the region. and the temperatures are milder in the mountains. in the 50s. many locations, west virginia, and kentucky, southern indiana, it is in the 60s this morning. some of that mild air will try to makes it way, as an area of low pressure will be approaching, improving our chances for storms, there is snow in northern pennsylvania and new york city, toward upstate new york, and the midwest. and that system will give us rain from time to time this morning through late morning, drizzle now and then. through mid day. late this afternoon, we could get strong storms. it looks like things will set more unstable. strong thunderstorms into the evening. how is traffic? >> could be a tough one. we have to be prepared. dry pavement south of town. so far. anyway. all the wa

of the southwest. which later today will warm us up. right now it's giving us a wind chill down in the 20s. temperatures are in the low 30s right now under a mostly clear sky, 34 at reagan national. we're just a little bit above freezing. look at our wind chills. down from the low to mid-20s. winds gusting 20 to 25 miles per hour. i want will shift into the northwest later today. that will bring in colder air. for right now we have a clear sky and we'll have a southwesterly flow that should warm us up by later today. there's the washington monument under this clear sky. by 9:00 should be in the upper 30s and the breezes will be out of the southwest this morning then shift into the northwest by late this afternoon. but before then by around 2:00 or 3:00 we should warm to mid-to-upper 50s, by 5:00 clear and in the mid-50s after that front goes by, it will be turning much colder tonight. i'll tell you how cold it will get by this time tomorrow morning. that will be coming up at 4:41. now we welcome jerry edwards back. >> good morning. we're doing all right. i-95 corridor, fredericksburg to th
